Welcome back

Hello to everyone reading our web page for reception, we are now back up and running and ready to post all the exciting things that we are doing in the reception class again.

Keep watching and visiting, speak to you soon

Mrs Preston

Caterpillars

we had a very exciting time in reception over the last few weeks watching our caterpillars changing. Mrs Hitchen ordered us some tiny caterpillars from off the internet and they arrived just after half term.

We watched them growing and eating a lot. Each time they got bigger their skins split and they had to wriggle out.

After two weeks they climbed to the top of the pot and fixed themselves to the paper at the top, then wriggled out of their skins one last time to show their pupa underneath.

We watched them everyday then when we came to school on Monday morning they had turned into beautiful butterflies. One of them sadly had died trying to wriggle out of its pupa but the other 4 were alive. We thought we thought another one had died because it was in the sugar water that Mrs Preston had put in for over the weekend just in case they came out, but thank goodness, Mrs Hitchen saw it and saved it.

On Tuesday morning we all went out onto the school field and watched them fly away.

Hailstone

Today Reception class were having fun in the hailstone that had fallen in our out door play area. We brought some inside the classroom in a tub and waited to see how long before it melted and turned into water. It took till nearly hometime before it all melted. Sufyan put the water in the soil round the tree, then it wasn’t wasted.

half term

Hello everyone,

hope you are all having a great time in your week off. I have been out in this lovely weather. Why does the sun not shine like this when we go taking pictures on the field? Thank you to all those people that have commented on our site I will read them all to the reception class when we get back to school. Enjoy the rest of your week off and see you next week.

love Mrs Preston

Our muddy school field

chicken pox

This week we have been having fun in the reception class doing some hot and cold pictures. We have made some clay models. Plus lots of reading and writing. Lots of our class have been off with the chicken pox so we really hope they all get better soon.

New year and back to school with great enthusiasm!

Our new years resolution is to come into class in the morning and leave our mum’s, dad’s and whoever else brings us, outside in the cold.
